What does a motorbike pink slip check?
- Tyres: tread depth, cuts and bulges
- Brakes
- Steering and suspension
- Every light, indicator and reflector
- Oil and exhaust leaks, and rust
- The horn, mirrors and number plate
- The result lodged with Transport for NSW
What is a motorbike pink slip?
It’s the same safety inspection a car gets. NSW treats a motorcycle as a light vehicle, so a bike more than five years old needs a pink slip before its rego can be renewed. Your renewal notice tells you if you need one.
We come to the bike at your home or work and check the safety items in the NSW standards. Once it passes, we send the result to Transport for NSW and you can renew. A pink slip is good for six months.
Before you book, check two things:
- Its rego is current, or ran out less than three months ago
- It’s on a hard, level surface with room to walk around it

Who can inspect a motorbike?
Our technicians, who are authorised by Transport for NSW to inspect motorcycles where they’re kept.
