What to have ready
- Park on a hard, level surface. Grass or soft ground isn’t a suitable inspection site.
- Leave the vehicle accessible, with room for the technician to inspect it.

Questions about caravan and trailer pink slips
If it is more than five years old and has an aggregate trailer mass of 4.5 tonnes or less, yes. Trailers under 251kg tare without brakes, and caravans under 411kg tare, are exempt.
Yes. Transport for NSW sets a lower maximum fee for trailers than for cars, and lower again for a trailer without brakes. A mobile provider charges the same inspection fee and can add a call-out fee.
